The Quinta Azul with its four Casas (Lorenzo, Luisa, Julia und Amelie), is located in an idyllic setting in the natural reserve of Seixe-Tal on the Costa Vicentina, in the southwest of Portugal. The Seixe is the boundary river between Alentejo and Algarve and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Praia de Odeceixe, approximately 1500 m from the 10000 m² property.

A Quinta is equal to a Spanish Finca and is a rural estate, normally consisting of several buildings and stables. Often, the Quinta was owned by a Patron (a big landowner) and was rented out to peasants. The feudal landowner received part of the rent in form of natural produce, the remainder stayed with the family that was running the farm. The Quinta's buildings, as they remain today, were restored in a traditional manner in the years 1997-2000 with ecologically friendly materials (cork, chestnut and clay). Due to the hillside location, they are offset. The houses were named after the owner's children and are family friendly and equipped with modern amenities. The mix of traditional Portuguese and rational "German" furnishings, is supposed to tie economics and ambience together in a sensible manner. The property spans one hectare and has fruit and olive trees, as well as bushes and flowers and is traversed by paved walkways. There is a natural pond system (no chlorine) on the property, which offers the opportunity for a swim from May through November. Next to the pond system, there is a children's playground with wooden climbing contraptions, swings, seesaws and also a steel cable railway. The Quinta receives its electricity from the Santa Clara dam, about 40 km from the Quinta, in the direction of Ourique. The drinking water is harvested from deep-wells, heated with solar energy and disinfected with a UV filter.

There is a German speaking contact nearby. Your contact, Mrs Rodrigues speaks German and English, lives near Odeceixe and is familiar with the area. She is your contact for any issues that may arise, is the key keeper and is happy to help with any issues and problems that may arise.

In the vicinity of Odeceixe, in the district of Ademira, you can find the beaches of Carvahal and Zambujeira. Surfers prefer the beaches at Carrapateira or Bordeira, yet there are also beautiful beaches in the area around Aljezur. Lagos has beautiful sandy beaches and the town is worth a visit, as well. A beautiful pedestrian area in the old town offers numerous shops, small restaurants and bars, a marina and many monuments from colonial times worth a visit. Take the opportunity to at least once stop at the former end of the known world and visit the Cabo Sao Vicente, the south westerly point in Europe.

Holiday home for two with a balcony and a small patio

The Casa Amelie is the topmost house and can accommodate two people. On approximately 50 m2, it offers one bedroom with a double bed, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The rooms are equipped with marble heating devices and a powerful fireplace for the winter months. The living room is furnished with satellite television, sofas, a stereo with a CD player, a DVD player and wireless internet access. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a dishwasher, an electric stove, a coffee maker and a toaster. The tiled bathroom has granite tile, a toilet, a shower a bathtub and a bidet.

From the balcony, you have a wonderful, unobstructed view over the river valley. The small patio faces west.

    “ausreichend ausgestattetes, wunderschön gelegenes Ferienhaus mit viel Platz und allen Möglichkeiten. Balkon und Terrasse mit Grillmöglichkeit laden ein, auch mal (abends...) zu Hause zu sein. Wunderschöne Gartenanlage mit herrlicher Bepflanzung, und kleinem Schwimmbecken, die ganze Anlage ökologisch durchdacht gestaltet und sehr empfehlenswert. Nach sechs Jahren der zweite Besuch und alles ist besser geworden. Sehr freundliche Verwalter, hilfsbereit und immer erreichbar! Ich komme bestimmt mindestens ein drittes Mal...
    Nur die Kaffeemaschine sollte endlich mal ausgetauscht werden, der Morgenkaffee dauerte schon vor sechs Jahren eine Viertelstunde.... :-))”

    “Freundliche Verwalter, nur in der warmen Jahreszeit zu empfehlen (wir waren im März dort, und der Kamin funktionierte nicht+die Heizung ist strombetrieben und deshalb nur äußerst sparsam zu verwenden).
    Kleine Spülmaschine (nichts für Töpfe, Pfannen o.ä.).
    Matratze im Doppelbett durchgelegen, Schlafsofa im Wohnzimmer ok.
    Strom muss bei Abreise extra bezahlt werden (ca. 2 Euro/Tag).
    Schöne Aussicht vom Balkon zum Fluss (keine Menschenseele), Frühstücken vorm Haus oder auf dem Balkon möglich. Kinderspielplatz vorhanden, schöner Garten.”

    “Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in diesem Haus und würden sehr gerne wiederkommen. Der Garten mit Swimmingpool ist sehr schön. Auch auf der Terrasse oder dem Balkon mit Flussblick haben wir total gerne gesessen. Drinnen ist es sehr gemütlich. Ich würde das Apartment jederzeit weiterempfehlen, vor allem Familien, denn für unseren Sohn (1 Jahr alt) war der Ort super toll!”

    “Ein sehr hübsches Ferienhaus in toller, ruhiger Lage. Die Ausstattung ist vollkommen ausreichend und die Anbindung ist auch gut. Allerdings ist ein Auto nahezu unverzichtbar, da Supermarkt und Strand recht weit weg sind.”
